About Marilyn Johnson


My secretarial, administrative assistant, office manager and entrepreneur experience spans over 30 years.  Most of those years were working in an office environment 8-5, Mon. - Fri.  While I enjoyed the people I worked with and my supervisors it was time to return to being an entrepreneur.  Being my own boss working out of my home, and having flexibility of my time I found is important to me.  While the challenges are many, being able to succeed in meeting those challenges is very rewarding.  In addition it gives me the opportunity to meet and work with many business owners and build good business relationships with them.  Being an entrepreneur has always been a part of me - I just got side tracked for a time.


Experience

I have worked for several different businesses and organizations.

In my early years I worked for a refrigeration contractor.  Then several years were spent raising our 3 daughters.  I worked as school secretary for the school our children attended.  Later was secretary for a local private University then was the owner of an Executive Suite leasing/Secretarial Service.  Circumstances arose that made it necessary for me to close the business knowing one day I would again be an entrepreneur.  After closing the business I returned to the 8-5 routine working for a local environmental analytical laboratory until we moved to Florida.  While in Florida I worked temporary or part-time jobs.

When we moved back to our home town so we could be closer to our children and grandchildren I worked a few temp jobs and once again joined the 8-5 world working for a publishing company.  Then it was time to return to the wonderful entrepreneur world starting Business Office Support Services as a home based Virtual Assistant.
